Position Overview

The Sr. Technology & Data Analytics Manager is responsible for leading the implementation of the organization’s technology roadmap, systems infrastructure, and software ecosystem. This role oversees technology and software implementation projects, systems integrations, database administration, and data integrity and analytics. This role also oversees day-to-day IT operations in partnership with an external IT managed services provider. The Sr. Technology & Data Analytics Manager communicates and works collaboratively across departments to ensure that systems effectively support internal staff, leadership, volunteers, and external stakeholders. This role also works closely with the Technology Specialist to ensure data integrity and the development of reporting frameworks and dashboards. This role also leads practical and responsible implementation of AI-enabled tools to improve operational efficiency, enhance service delivery, and support data-informed decision-making across the organization. The Sr. Technology & Data Analytics Manager supervises the Technology Specialist.

Essential Functions

IT Planning and Execution

  • Develop and implement a technology roadmap aligned with the organization’s strategic goals.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement technology solutions that enhance operational effectiveness and member experience.
  • Ensure IT systems are scalable, secure, reliable, and cost-effective.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and nonprofit technology trends, including AI applications.
  • Identify and implement practical AI-driven tools to improve efficiency where applicable.

Systems and Software Management

  • Oversee cross-functional selection, implementation, integration, data hygiene, maintenance and optimization of organization-wide core systems, including:
    • Association Management System (AMS)
    • Learning Management Systems (LMS)
    • Event registration and abstract management systems
    • Awards and application management systems
    • Conference/meeting app platforms
    • Online community platforms
  • Develop project scopes, timelines, budgets, and stakeholder communication plans.
  • Manage software vendor contracts, performance, and deliverables to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Manage system integrations to ensure seamless data flow across platforms to meet both functional and business analytics needs.
  • Serve as system owner for key enterprise systems and vendor relationships.
  • Partner with marketing department on website maintenance, Google Analytics, conversion tracking, SSO, SSL and domain renewal processes.

Database Administration and Business Intelligence

  • Oversee database administration, structure, governance, and data hygiene practices.
  • Collaborate with Technology Specialist to design, build, and maintain dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights.
  • Establish and maintain data integrity standards and documentation.
  • Develop policies for data access, security, and compliance.
  • Train and empower staff to access and interpret data responsibly and effectively.

IT Operations and Support

  • Serve as primary staff liaison to external IT managed services provider.
  • Collaborate with Technology Specialist to oversee computer hardware acquisitions and deployment.
  • Ensure staff compliance with security best practices and risk mitigation protocols.
  • Maintain and update relevant IT policies.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot complex technical issues.

General and Administrative

  • Supervise and mentor the Technology Specialist.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to departments in identifying and implementing technology solutions.
  • Develop, manage and monitor department budgets, communicating variances and planning contingencies accordingly.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of progressive IT experience including project management and systems implementation, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of AMS platforms (Nimble AMS/Salesforce preferred) and systems integration concepts, data administration and data governance.
  • Experience with SQL querying (basic to intermediate) and working with relational databases.
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and data protection standards.
  • Experience developing technology roadmaps aligned with organizational strategy.

Preferred:

  • Experience in a nonprofit, association, or membership-based organization.
  • Experience implementing AI tools in operational environments.
  • Project management or IT certification (PMP, CSM, ITIL 4, Agile, etc.).
  • Experience with reporting tools, dashboards, or business intelligence platforms such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Experience communicating complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Database Management: Expertise in database management and data governance practices, and ensuring data integrity with high attention to detail.
  • Systems Administration: Strong knowledge of enterprise systems administration and integration.
  • Data Analysis: Ability to interpret and analyze organizational data to identify trends, ensure data integrity, and provide actionable insights that support strategic and operational decisions.
  • AI Governance: Ability to develop and oversee policies, risk controls, and compliance standards that ensure artificial intelligence technologies are implemented responsibly, securely, and in alignment with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Vendor Management: Maintains strong vendor relationships, ensures contractual obligations are met, monitors performance, and resolves issues in a timely manner.

Other Job Details

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position supervises the Technology Specialist.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Full-time exempt position working 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday during general business hours with periodic schedule deviations to support business needs. Domestic travel may be required, including one week, annually, for the ACVIM Forum.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit or remain stationary at a computer workstation for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment.
  • Occasional lifting and moving boxes or equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.
